Jewelry box w/pic

My neighbor provided me with a plan and asked me to build a jewelry box for his daughter's college graduation present. He specifically wanted me to use red oak from a tree that had grown in our neighborhood. That was not a problem since we had a red oak tree attack our garden about three years ago (it fell over in a storm) and we got it sawyered (all quartersawn) and stacked. Here are the results with a little bit of Pennsylvania cherry for the trim and insert.

My neighbor said that he finished it in tung oil, but he has not sent any pictures yet.

Love it, the figure on the top is beautiful! Tung oil should really help bring out the wood. Don't hesitate to nudge him on the pictures

Amy,

That sure is a good looking jewelry box.

I don't see any dovetail joints or finger joints on it, however.

Just picking at you, Amy. It is a nice box.

Good looking box. The receiver should cherish it for a long time.

You could have practised with a nice Nakashima dovetail key in the top Amy! Nice work.

Very nice, Amy! The QS oak and cherry really do compliment one another!

This will be a very much appreciated gift I am quite sure.
