Has anyone been on the Harville Tool website lately? I have tried for several days and keep getting a message "Internal Server Error". Is their site down or is it me?

Re: Hartville Tool website

Well, just tried on both the Mac and the PC ... both work from home now. Guessing it's fixed?

Are they still honoring the 10% over cost? I placed a fairly good size order a few weeks ago on that deal ... still grinning!

Re: Hartville Tool website

Jeremy, Please check the site from work tomorrow. I am still getting the internal server error message. I'm sure it's my computer, but I have no idea how to fix it.

Re: Hartville Tool website

Well, something is funky on their server. I tried again from my office just now and it didn't work on a Mac or a PC, IE, FF, or Safari. Cache emptied, everything. Odd.

Re: Hartville Tool website

I have this exact same error. I can't get to the site from my regular home machine, but can get to it from my wife's laptop and my work laptop. Same symptoms for 2 days despite trying a bunch of remedies. I'm sure it must be something about my PC configuration in conjunction with hartville tool's. Did anyone ever figure out what caused the issue?

Re: Hartville Tool website

I have had several conversations with Doug @ Hartville since I started this thread. They have received a few other complaints from folks not being able to access their web site. Last week he sent me an e-mail from their tech dept. asking me to try different things. None of the suggestions helped. I called Doug yesterday to find out if the techs were having any success. He asked what I was using for security and I told him Norton. He asked if I would mind turning it off momentarily. I turned off Norton security and "bingo", I could access their site. Later in the evening I went back to their web site. When I was finished, I decided to turn Norton back on before closing out their site. As soon as I did, their web site disappeared and the server error message popped up.
I think I will give Norton a call Tues.

Re: Hartville Tool website

I had the same type problem with Norton Antivirus years ago and have since switched to Mcafee, haven't had a problem or virus infection since. However, some of my friends would use nothing but Norton, and have no related issues.

Re: Hartville Tool website

Thanks for the tip Charlie. I use CA not Norton; turned off firewall, anti-virus, and anti-spyware but I still have the problem from this machine. Now that you gave me a lead though I will look more into my security settings. It is strange that I only have issues with that particular web site though.

Re: Hartville Tool website

The error is a server-side error as best I can tell. I hear the Norton thing, and wouldn't doubt it, but the problem has something to do with their site if I were to venture a guess. Their site still does not work from my office, but does work from my house ... which makes me think their PHP code is checking something and it may be that network "attributes" are coming into play (just a guess, not sure what it would be or how it happened)

In any case, I never reported it to them. If they have 10 reports, they can assume 10x more are having the issue (and in this case I bet a TON more than that!)

Re: Hartville Tool website

In talking with Doug @ Hartville yesterday, he said that the techs feel that it is their end with the problem. I think turning off my norton and then being able to access their site reinforces that theory. As I stated before, I have no problem with any other site, therefore I don't think it's my computer.
