I got one more table to build then I'm open in the shop. I do have some wide 5/4 FSRO slabs that have been waiting for a cabinet or two. The plan below calls for Cherry and Cherry plywood but I think it would be ok in solid red oak. I like everything about this design but the false top and the moulding around the top.

Anyone built this case? Any tips?

Thanks

Awesome... so the plan is pretty good then? I plan on changing it up a bit, for one thing I don't like the long lenghts of wood on top cabinet sides without some type of re-enforcement to keep them true. So in the spirit of it be a "display" case, I'm thinking I might do framed acrylic for the sides of the top and the pistol case instead. This would greatly change the construction details, instead of the bottom being cut from one big glue up panel I would need to do some sort of rail and stile framing.

I know I will defiantly change the false top of the upper cabinet with a real wood top and flush mount the lights to the bottom of both the (pistol and rifle) tops.

My FIL would like this for a Christmas present, he has quite a collection of black powder rifles and pistols and has them in a steel cabinet now.
