Thanks for all your advice during the project! Methinks I would have never finished without my friends at ncwoodworkers!

the specs:
103" Long x 46" wide
finished with BLO and waterlox
Walnut salvaged from a friends yard after a lightning storm; to the sawmill and then in the attic for a decade or so; after a few years on and off, many mistakes, lots of cursing sounds coming from the garage, we can finally EAT!

Nice job Ben, that's a very neat and sturdy design. The beauty of air-dried walnut is sure worth the years of waiting.

I'm curious about the design of the lower legs/feet portion. It looks like 3 laminated pieces. Can you describe? I'm just curious.

Very nice!

That table will serve everyone well for many, many generations.

Thanks for sharing the final results.

great table. I think it is wonderful to use salvage wood instead of burning or going to landfill. now you need a larger family so you can fill the spots at the table.

Re: Finally finished! walnut dining room table

@ jeff, thanks for the question--it is all solid walnut. the legs are, roughly speaking, three 8/4 boards glued together to make a kind of mortise where each of the 90 degree angles take place. So the only screws I had to use were on the very bottom legs, and to attach the horizontal piece that runs directly beneath the table top. cheers, bw
