well almost! They decided they want 2 shelves in the family room units, but other than that it is finally finished!

This is the library unit I have been working on for the last several weeks.

And here are the family room units. The panels in the doors are speaker cloth so the component remotes will work through the closed doors. There will be a second shelf added below the shelves that are installed.

Let me know what you think!

Nicely done Ed. I need to talk to you sometime about the design. The LOML has been after me for built-ins for the past couple o' years. I can only put it off so long... .

Thanks for the comments guys. I am really glad to have this one done. The floating shelves are held in with cabinet screws in pocket holes. Clients seem to be happy! They paid me and offered to be used as a reference!

Bob, feel free to get ahold of me regarding design. All I really did was take a basic idea from the clients and run with it. I did a model in sketchup and posted design questions on the forums to get some input. I tried my best to use the golden rule to figure dimensional relationships. Overall, I think it came out pretty well!

Excellent work Ed. Are there speakers behind the "grill cloth" too? I'd be interested to know how you ran the wiring. Are you using multichannel sound in that room or are you sticking with stereo? If so, how are you handling the center channel speaker?

All the connections were already installed and I did nothing with any of the stereo system. There are speakers above the 2 floating shelves and I think there are a couple mounted on the other side of the room, but none in the cabinets.

I love the coloring of the library unit. What type of wood/finish did you use?

Hi Rob! The wood is maple and maple ply. The finish is medium brown transtint dye and arm-r-seal.
