Monday I made a trip down to Roger (timsparents) shop in Marvin, NC. While there I noticed his full face shield with dust and ear protection. It was hooked to a motorized system to keep air flowing. While I don't remember the brand, this is something that is probably a good investment for all of us.

I wanted to hear from you ... what brands are available. What brands are preferred? What do you own?

I've found the Trend system online, but not much else. I'm hoping Roger will read this and post details about his setup too.

What do you recommend?

Jeremy, I do not have the Trend system but a lot of my friends do have it and they think it is wonderful. I have tried it out and it is comfortable to wear and does a good job of supplying air. The only complaint I have heard about it and some of the other systems is that people with glasses have reflection problems.

That is my $.02 for what it is worth.....

I'm certainly no expert but have done a lot of reading on the subject. It appears one of the highest rated "postive airflow" designs is by Airstream. Be forewarned they are expensive! But what price can you put on your health? They have an AS200 which boasts a 12hr. battery time and the AS400 has 8hr. battery time. More importantly, it is NIOSH approved which can't be said about similar devices. Obviously, personal preference is going to play a big part in your decision i.e. batteries in the helmet (heavy head) vs. batteries carried on your belt.
Here are a couple of links you can check out.

Hope this helps!
