I spent some of the weekend working on the end tables I Have been planning for months. I got a lot done this weekend. I have the cases built and the tops cut to size. The only things that I have left to do is build the bases and drawers and attach the tops. Then of course comes the door decision I posted about a month or so ago. Then comes the finishing. I am getting excited about completing this project. I decided not to put the arch in the drawer divider as the photo suggested. (see prior post) If I build doors I don't think the arch will look right with doors. So I guess I will just be square. Any suggestions as to finish will be greatly appreciated.
I made the best use of some Expensive knotty Ash plywood by putting the knots in the area that will be hidden by the drawer.
Thanks for looking
Glued the Legs up tonight. Gonna cut them out tomorrow night. Is there someone close to Salisbury that could assist me in cutting the legs which require a band saw? I have a printable pattern .gif)

My suggestions for finishing are as follows:
Put on a coat of BLO (Boiled Linseed OiL)
Allow to cure for 5 days
Put on waterbased poly/lacquer as a top coat (3 to 4 coats)

I recently did some mirrors out of red oak with the same process and it did darken them. Not a lot mind you. You can do the BLO and if it isn't dark enough you could put a garnet or orange dewaxed shellac on to darken them some more before your top coats.
