From concept:

To reality:

Just a few pics, not brilliant, but I will try and take some more. I will also try and do a "how I did it" if any body is interested.

Material cost was about $2,000, of which $1400 was the custom glass. The woods are Curly soft maple and cherry.

Thanks for looking. Those who are coming on the shop crawl can poke around it and see it in more detail.

The inspiration was trying not to be the same! When I started the design I realised just how hard it is to build a functional table that wasn't just a top and four legs that looked like every other table I think I managed to move "out of the box" even if just a little with this piece

Re: Dining table - Done!

Thanks for the nice comments, they are very much appreciated at the end of a tough project!

It was an interesting one to build and did involve many hours staring in to space trying to figure the problems. I will try and put together a "how", I didn't take many pictures, but may be able to refer to the CAD drawing to explain some things, especially the leg attachments.

Loving it! Very ZEN like with the glass representing a flowing stream (at least that's my interpret).

Cant wait to see it live!

Re: Dining table - Done!

Most excellent David !!! I recall asking you about progress at the picnic. After having seen the pictures of your bedroom set, I believe your designs are concentrated "outside the box" more often then they are "inside".

Outstanding David, as always. I remember you sharing the concept with us and couldn't wait to see it all finished. Absolutely breathtaking work. Can't wait for the "how-to".

Re: Dining table - Done!

What a gorgeous piece, David!!!!r s

I think I am with Bas on this one, all of those angles tenon's and funky aprons have my head going into overload as well!

I will look forward to reading more of build detail, if you can afford the time.

Thanks so much for sharing the end result. You have to be very proud of this piece of work!

Wayne

Re: Dining table - Done!

Thou art a masochist!!

It looks great, David. The materials selection (stock and glass) really sets the piece off. Well, that and the workmanship...and the design...

I bet the man hours piled up on this one.

What's the finish?

Chuck
