My latest project for my step-daughter who is expecting. The overall dimensions are 36" high X 23 1/4" wide X 44" long, and made of cherry. I found the plans on Furnitureplans.com. I like the look of the square spindles, better than I did of all the other ones I looked at. The only thing about the square spindles was the 60 mortise and tenons it took for the side rails

It's almost finished now, I have the legs, feet and center stretcher cut and shaped. Next is test assembly and plug the screw holes. Final sanding and finishing after that. I am thinking of tung oil and poly as a finish, I don't want to stain the cherry. Once it cures it should be ok for an infant to be in, right?

Thanks for looking, it's be a fun project!!

That is a great looking cradle. I really like the square spindles.

I can see how the M&T work would get a little monotonous but the assembled product really looks beautiful.

Please post more pics when the complete assy is done and after finish.

Dry fit complete. I have to fill the screw holes with plugs and sand it. Then to start finishing and cut the bottom piece of plywood for the bottom to hold the mattress.

It swings pretty well and feels pretty solid even with not being tightened down yet. The bottom stretcher is lag bolted to the legs, so that the base can be dis-assembled for storage or transport.
