I made this one for a friend (in the picture) to finish. I have it working as a bow (25# @ 26" draw) and he is going to do final sanding, shape the handle, maybe decorate or whatever and oil or paint or whatever to seal it as a craft wih his son and then the two of them will try to make a bow from scratch for his son. I have him a couple of boards for that. The bow and boards a rehickory from Jack.
I recently made a Native American replica for my youngest daughter out of an arborvitae "trunk" (they are more like vertical branches; there is no main trunk):
That one is super lightweight - only 12# @ 20" - but it is perfect for her.
Somebody cut down a pecan near my office and I managed to get some of the branches:
The old hands on a bowyers forum tell me that (counting from the left) #s 2, 3, 4 and 8 should make excellent bows (unless I mess them up of course

). the others are "maybes" or carved staff candidates. I "painted" the ends with TB-III, which is the norm of a lot of the bowyers.
