I won a guitar making book at the picnic this year - so here's a three string my son made. I really should get out in the shop more often, shouldn't I?

1/16" SYP, BW and 50lb catfish line - enjoy

Thanks

Re: 3 String

That's really cool, how does it sound??? I like the idea of a three string guitar, trying to keep up with all 6 on a standard guitar is too hard for me.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: 3 String

Guitar? I bet it sounds just like a dulcimer when you strum it
Nice job on the carved head!

Re: 3 String

That's right it's an Appalachian dulcimer although we are flatlanders Sounds pretty cool danged if I can play it...

Here's a couple of web pics of other dulcimers

It was a good project, my son did an awesome job with it, but I need to stop keeping SYP around the shop

Since I am a softwood fan I like to see projects like this. Don't let Bas (our resident SYP king ) hear you say that

Re: 3 String

Great looking project! I wish I had some of that talent.

Jeff, I am looking for 50bf of dry pine just to keep around the shop for painted face frames, etc. If you have it, bring it Saturday!!

Sorry for the hijack!

Re: 3 String

Awesome job young man !!

3 strings is all you need to play " smoke on the water "

.....and practically every country song ever written

Seriously ....nice work !!

Mike , looks like that instrument has had a note or 12 played on it
