| Re: 1/4-inch hardboard/pegboard I don't think that it exists any more. Wood products manufactures have been nominally sizing their materials for years, under the guise that it saves resources. I suspect that it saves them money. About the only processed wood product that I know of that comes true to size is MDF which is a full 3/4, 1/2 or 1/4".
You might check the plans and see if they haven't already included the nominal sizing in their measurements. Often they'll call for 1/4" hardboard or 3/4" plywood as that is what it is commonly referred to as. But in reality its 3/16 or 11/16 (23/32).
