This Wed at noon I will be giving a short talk and demo at the Horace Williams House in Chapel Hill. The presentation will be about Thomas Day and I will have by bench and most of my tools out and will be trying to see how big of a mess I can get away with making on their front lawn.

Come on out if you can. Look forward to seeing you if you can make it.

I will also be at the High Point Historical Museum May 30th.

Excellent! I'll do my best to attend.

How do you handle hecklers?

Hi Jerome,

What time will you be at the High Point Histerical museum?

I see that is a Saturday, if nothing explodes maybe I can be there.

I want to go there.

Just in case anyone is wondering, here is a link to the Horrace Williams House http://www.chapelhillpreservation.com/horace.html

Its at 610 East Rosemary St., Chapel Hill.

Did Thomas Day use Polyurethane and Gorrilla Glue?

Re: Talk and Hand Tool Demo this Wed in Chapel Hill

As a follow up, I was fortunate enough to attend Jerome's talk.

What a blast! The weather and setting couldn't have been nicer. We sat out on the lawn under the shade of some magnolia trees.

Jerome talked a lot about the history of Thomas Day. He nicely weaved in the social and economic climate as well as hard core furniture geek details.

The crowd was very receptive and engaged in some good questions. I behaved myself though.

I took a few pics, none came out great.

I got a first hand look at his knock down traveling workbench. It is quite amazing. Some really creative uses of dovetails and wedges. Plus, the top is a single board that must be at least 28" wide.

If anyone gets to attend his talk at High Point, I think you will find it most informative and entertaining.

Jim

What?! No close ups of the bench?

I see you couldn't get close to the blanket chest for the blue hairs all over it.

Thanks Jim for helping me break down that set up. It was great to see you out there. It was nice to have to have some tool geeks in the audience too.

Dang, I truly planned on attending until last minute events doused that. Glad it went well, what a beautiful day to be at Horace Williams.
