Ok guys and gals. You've seen Dave's post on his progress of his occasional chair, now it is time to sign up and build your own.

Class Dates: January 6th-7th with a bonus shaping day on Jan. 20th
Class Duration: 8-6pm both days
Class Size: 4 people
Class Cost: $230 for NCwwers only (Materials not Provided)
Experience level Required: None, I can teach anyone to make one of these chairs. All the skills that are required are taught to you. Prior woodworking experience doesn't help much because this is such a different way of woodworking. This is a great intro before you make a rocker for those rocker wanta bees out there. Bring your imagination.

Wood Required: 30 bdft of 8/4 wood (walnut, mahogany are recommended)

Tools Required: Angle grinder with sanding disk, carving gouge, mallet, Nicholsen raps, Shinto saw rasp

Class Content: I will teach you first how to design a chair based on your own body measurement. Then we will go Maloofing around. You'll learn the super strong Maloof leg to seat joint that is the secret to the strength of these chairs. You'll learn to freehand bandsaw out excess material from the seat. I'll teach you to use the bandsaw in a way you never thought possible. By the end of Sunday you'll have a chair you can sit in. When you come back for the bonus shape day I'll show you how to finish carving out the seat and basic shaping priciples that make these chairs what they are. After the class you'll have about 30 hrs of work to finish off your chair. It is an experience that will grow your woodworking skills guaranteed!!!! You'll even get to see me working a settee (2 person version) of this chair right along with you.

(Should I be a used car salesman??? )

Please PM me or post if you are interested.

Ok, it looks like we've got one. Who else wants to make a chair?

I don't like my new job so much that I am not tempted to quit so I can get saturdays off for some of your classes but, LOML likes a steady income, sooo.....
