I picked up the Goodwill Lathe Saturday from DavidF. He took the time to show me how the slow speed grinder and attachments worked to sharpen the lathe chisels. Then he and his wife took LOML, my sister, BIL and me on a tour of their house where we got a chance to see all the beautiful furniture that David has made. He is a very good craftsman.

The lathe is loaded and ready for travel.

After we departed David's we stopped at S&T's café in Pittsboro for lunch. If you are in the Pittsboro area and are hungry or like ice cream that is the place to go. We had a variety of sandwiches between us and the ordered 2 banana splits. I have never seen a banana split that big. I think humongous is a better description.

I set it up in my shop without the bed extension.

Now I have to get some supplies so I can made square wood round.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Goodwill Lathe

Dolan,
I'm sure the Good Will lathe will be happy in the new location. Of course, you may have to remove David's tear stains

Enjoy,
Roger

Yes, Roger, I did find some on it yesterday when I set it up. But it is snug in my shop and humming like a little bird.

Re: Goodwill Lathe

Cathy I have cut several blanks from cherry. maple, walnut, RO, mahogany that were scraps in my shop. Do you have any exotics you want to get rid of or anything that would make a striking pen other than the above wood?

Fred, it may be awhile before I try a bowl. If I am up that way I will look you up.

Re: Goodwill Lathe

Splinter, I would like to give my wife a nice pen for her B-day(she loves pens). If you could help me out I got lots of wood. She likes hickory, and I have tons of it.

Re: Goodwill Lathe

Good luck with the lathe Dolan. It was great meeting you and the folks and comparing travel notes.
