Here is a brief update on the Fall 2009 Raffle after our first week.
  1. Key question: "How do I buy Tickets Online"? Below the Banner Ad and Upcoming Events is the Fall 2009 Raffle Online Purchase Link. Click on the icon to Purchase Online and when you see the Prizes Image on that Page, you can click on the picture to see the original Fall 2009 Raffle thread.
  2. Next Question: "I don't like to use credit cards online. How do I mail in my check to purchase my tickets"? We have a Mail-In Form in the Download Library. Print it out and send it in with your check to the address shown on the form.
  3. Third Question: "How can you assure me that the drawing will be random -- that any ticket has an equal chance of being drawn"? Only one person, our Treasurer, will have the actual names and number of tickets that are purchased. On the date that the drawing closes, he will send each person that purchased tickets a listing of their numbers so they will know what tickets they have in the drawing. He will provide a listing of the ticket numbers only (no personal data) to our Events Director who will prepare a large covered jar full of tickets from a roll that we have of sequential numbers. Each ticket will be the same size and same color, but with a different number. At the drawing luncheon (we will announce where and when it will be on Friday, November 20th), the President or another officer will supervise the drawing and we will be certain that the jar is thoroughly mixed before and after each ticket is drawn. We will try to enlist a person not in the drawing (we used a waitress for the first drawing) to pull a ticket. Between each of 10 drawings, the lid will be placed on the jar and it will be will be stirred up again. None of the Board members will have any tickets (we are ineligible), so only one person will know whose ticket is represented by each number drawn. We believe this will be a fair method and should insure random tickets at each attempt to draw.
  4. Question 4: "Is it OK to send cash with the Mail-In Form"? You can send cash, but it is at your risk (the US Postal Service recommends never to send cash in the mail). We would prefer a check or Postal Money Order. Be certain that the Mail-In Form is filled out completely and mailed to the address on it. Keep a copy for your records.
  5. More Questions? Just send an email to raffleinfo@ncwoodworker.net
There are 3 more weeks before the Raffle closes -- be sure to get your tickets -- Remember that you can buy as many as you want and you'll increase your chances of winning one of these great prizes.

Re: Fall 2009 Raffle Update

I thought I would follow up after the Klingspor Extravaganza with a few more pictures of our prizes to show off these gems!

The first two pictures were taken at the Show...

The Powermatic Drill Press has several incredible features, including the large cast iron table and fence that each extend to 30":

and variable speed, digital readout, built-in surface illumination and laser crosshairs...

Lot #2, the Festool Domino, is a tool that produces precision mortises for accurate joinery on face frames, cabinet carcases, rails & stiles, doors -- you name it!

Lot #3 is a fine low-angle Veritas block plane from Lee Valley Tools -- the DX60. It features an accurate adjustment system...

and it can be easily disassembled for cleaning and blade sharpening...

Lot #4 is the Lee Valley Veritas Medium Shoulder Plane that fits ones hand comfortably for use...

Lot #5 is the Lee Valley Veritas Small Router Plane. Like the other planes in this Raffle, it is easily adjusted...

Lots 6 and 7 are finely crafted Cross Peen Hammers from Lie-Nielson Woodworks. The Brass Head hammer is signed buy Thomas Lie-Nielsen himself -- it is ideal for adjusting the blade on your other Lie-Nielsen planes...

Less than two weeks to get your tickets! The Raffle closes at 6:00 PM on November 16th! See the First Post in this thread to enter or to download the Mail-in Form to send us your check. The more you buy, the better your chances to win one of these fabulous prizes!

Re: Fall 2009 Raffle Update

We the BoD decided that we would not participate in the raffle to avoid any appearance of impropriety. I know that most if not all of us would be buying tickets if we could! These are some sweet prizes and the odds of winning are a LOT better than the lottery! The drill press and hand planes would look great in my shop!

I have a Domino. At first I was skeptical, but after I built my first carcasses with it I had an SEG (its a kind of grin) on my face for days! It never goes on sale! That is the way Festool runs things. How often can you get a NIB Festool w/ warranty for a $5 chance?

Come people! And its easy too.

Re: Fall 2009 Raffle Update

Sorry to criticize but the place to purchase the tickets is STILL NOT obvious. Depending on how you start looking you feel like you are going around in circles. This NOT something that should be subtle. The actual link needs to be **** of a lot more "in your Face."

Also, you are hindering people from buying in quantity. You have a drop down list that only goes to 10. Why? It is just as easy to make it either "as many as you want" or least be able to get $100 at a time, if not more. Buying tickets should NOT be an intelligence test. (BTW, if it is I failed)

If all that came out a bit to harsh, I apologize, I don't mean. Just repeating suggestions that were already made by others.

What he said. I sent this link to several people, and ALL BUT ONE of them I had to show how to get there. The flames don't really help .... we just need a nice link/ad on the sidebar or something (put it in the place of Flashchat ... that is so rarely used, I can't imagine why it needs to be above all else in the ad sidebar ... JMTC)

BTW ... I finally bought my share today ...

Why do you have to open it up? Couldn't it be like the calendar sales thing on the right?

Never mind. Close and reopen the browser, and voila!
