Re: Eagle's Last Flight

I asked Eagle if he would tell me his real name before he had the falling out with this site. He told me I would see it on his obituary. I laughed and commented that I hope to know it much sooner that then. Dammit this is not the way I wanted to figure it out. I am deeply saddened by this new. I considered Eagle to one of my special friends, one that I was proud to say..."Yeah, I know Eagle, we talk on the phone, and he calls when ever he is passing though town in case I'm free".
A brain aneurysm is so sudden and unexpected. I bet he was conceiving his next impossible marvel, and his mind just said that's too much
If anyone hears about any funeral arrangements, I would like to pay my last respects if possible.
Rest in peace Eagle, so many have learned and been inspired by you. We all appreciate it.

Dave

Re: Eagle's Last Flight

Never had the opportunity to meet Eagle, but I certainly saw the wonder of his work. No doubt, his unique talent will be missed. And I appreciated his teaching/sharing technique of challenging others to accept the dare of learning new skills.

Re: Eagle's Last Flight

I never know what to say in these instances and usually end up saying the wrong thing. But I will say Eagle will really be missed. If there is one thing certain in this life it is death, none of us know when it's our time. The "Book" says "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." William, enjoy heaven and being with the Lord.

Re: Eagle's Last Flight

I am so glad that I had the opportunity to meet Eagle at last year's Klingspor event in Hickory. To see his work in person was truly inspiring. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Re: Eagle's Last Flight

like so many others I only knew Eagle through postings of his truly incredible work . I have offered my condolences to his family, but just as important, I offer my condolences to this family as well . Several of you were obviously very close to him and to you I offer love and strength

Re: Eagle's Last Flight

....very upsetting...very sad...

I would love to see the last pen he created...I lost touch with him when he moved away from this site and have not seen his brilliance since.

ugh...I hate to hear this...very sad news!

Re: Eagle's Last Flight

I'm not a pen turner, but his work was innovative and inspiring. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Woodguy's Moak unveiling in June 2007 and got to see many of his pens up close and personal.

For those that have never seen his work, here is a website that sold many of his magnificent designs. You'll appreciate his skill when you note the prices his work commanded. Although feisty and opinionated at times, his skill was unquestioned -- he was way too young to die.
