We have a celebrity in our midst! Alan Schaffter, better known as Alan in Little Washington, has his picture on the front cover of the latest issue of American Woodworker (Dec/January 2010) and then has two excellent full-feature articles "Adjustable Height Assembly Table" and "How to Built a Torsion Box". And if that isn't enough, the video of Alan operating the Adjustable lags is found at www.AmericanWoodworker.com/145/AdjustableLegs. Great work, Alan!

Didn't get my issue yet. When I do, I'll drop by for an autograph. Way to go, Alan.

Re: Congratulations Alan!

yeah, yeah, yeah, big deal. We all know that American Woodworker doesn't do any serious WW articles, they select people to put on the front cover exclusively based on looks and fashion sense.

Oh.

Wait.

Hmmm.

Congrats Alan, great to see your work recognized, we need inventors like you to move woodworking forward!

Re: Congratulations Alan!

Thanks guys!

This is killing me! I haven't seen it!!

I'm on the left coast visiting family and haven't been home to see my issue. I had no idea they were putting a pic of me/my project on the cover, either. After I read this we made the rounds of Lowes, Borders and Barnes & Noble, but none had the issue! Maybe in a couple days.

Oh, as for fashion sense- well timed wearing of plaid! Long live nohm!

Re: Congratulations Alan!

Still haven't gotten my copy either. Why must W's always be the last to get delivery!

I'm sure Alan has a few other "tricks" up his flannel sleeve and we'll be seing more of these articles to follow. Congrats!

I guess you signed away the rights to your likeness/photos with the deal? Seems like a cover should be worth a bonus!

The article looks great Alan, even though I think that you should have done it in your Master's swimming garb for a little bit of a twist. .

Re: Congratulations Alan!

I finally found it at a local Borders here in WA. Yahooo!

I bought three copies for my family. During checkout I asked the clerk if I got a discount. "Because you are buying three?" he asked. I replied, "No, because I'm on the cover." He said "congratulations, but NO!" Then he said I should be buying more! Oh, well, at least I'm published.

And . . . I got an email from my editor today, looks like there may be some more tips, shorts, and articles published in the future! Another yahoo!!!!
