I wanted to get people planning their lives around a very important evening coming up in July.

Two dates here are real important.

Early Registration, by July 18th (There is a big lunch spread, helps with the planing)
Meeting, July 25th 7am - after lunch

Here are the details Ed shared with me:

The annual M-WTCA Area Q meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Ed & Kathy Hobbs' farm in Raleigh. This is a great opoortunity for those of you who like traditional hand woodworking tools (also foot powered machinery and some old woodworking machinery) to get together with others that share our interest.

M-WTCA is a national association dedicated to studying, preserving and sharing knowledge of tools. We are made up of collectors, users, people who like old tools, etc., and have over 3300 members all over the US. You can find out more at www.mwtca.org

The July meeting will feature many displays, a program of interest, buying and selling of tools, coffee, soft drinks, donuts, a good old fashion BBQ lunch and an auction. There are also plans for a large "reverse auction" (all tools start out at a certain price and the price drops each hour until they are all gone) in addition to our regular auction.

Those that share our interest are welcome to attend at the guest rate. Preregistration is required to ensure we have enough food and drinks. A late registration fee is added after July 18. In 2008, we had about 280 people attending. For a registration form or additional information contact Ed at hobbsed@portbridge.com

I hope to see lots of you out there. This is a good place to pick up all those wonderful old tools we frequently pine for. Pig stickers, dovetail saws, axes and maybe just maybe a few hand planes

Ed and I chatted via PM... I will join for sure and will bring my mula to the meeting at his place. I printed the membership form off today.

Maybe I can influence MWTCA ... it's about old tools, not old everything right? I mean, I don't have to ride in on a horse and buggy, do I? hehe

I can also drive if you prefer. I have the same car as usual and can fit a total of 6 (7 if 2 people are small

Yes, the meeting announcement to all M-WTCA & EAIA Members in NC, SC & VA went out yesterday. They should be getting to everyone shortly.

See you all on July 25 - bright & early as the reverse auction will start when the meeting opens. Prices will drop beginning at 8 am on the tools in the specail reverse auction. Stay tuned for more information.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a nice, clean hotel nearby the event...Quite a drive for me to be there before 6:30am.

There are several hotels listed on the back of the registration form along with a map. Send me a note and I will send a registration form since you will need to pre-register if you have not already.

Looking forward to having everyone here.

Should be A LOT of stuff for sale, to see and a lot of people to talk with along with the great Southern BBQ lunch.

I think I'm going to back out this year. I'd really love to go, but we are heading to Mo. first thing Sunday and I'll need to get some stuff done around home.

Heading out shortly headed for Raleigh. I'm bringing 2 friends and my middle son with me. I wasn't able to pull stuff together to bring to sell, so we will be traveling light.

Well, my 13 year old Doberman's surgery has been scheduled for Monday morning. He is still quite a handful now with his injuries (burst tumor). So, I will miss yet another year. Everyone, take a bunch of pics!
