Well, I see that some of you have discovered the new thread prefixes. This is a built in feature of vBulletin 3.7 that I just enabled. I'm still playing with that. They don't show up everywhere they should becuase of the heavy customization we have in some places. But I'll get it there soon.
We really need a bigger selection. I just put up a few to see how the feature works. So how about you all make some suggestions, please.

Re: Thread prefixes
Steve, how about a "suffix" button that enables us to go back "Home" without having to scroll back to the top of the page? Or is this feature already available and I just don't know where to access it? Like the prefix buttons, by the way.

different topic. But what do you mean by "home" ? Look at the first item in the floating menu

Re: Thread prefixes
Steve, I like the thread prefixes, they do make me double check to see if the thread isn't posted in the How Do I forum (which I don't think exists anymore )
I would like to see one that identifies a project thread with pictures. I don't know what you would call it, though Maybe "Look Pics".
We might have to define the meaning and differences between gloat and neener
Gloat - to look at or think about with great or excessive, often smug or malicious, satisfaction
Neener - ?????????

Re: Thread prefixes
Great idea with the prefixes Steve! I like the color too
Here are some suggestions for more prefixes:
Good Info
Problem
Good Price
Shop Pics
Can't think of any more right now but I'm sure there'll be lots more coming from others.
BTW, I think you answered the question about the 'Home' button, it's in the floating 'Site Navigation' menu. However, I'd really like to see a 'Home' button at the bottom of a thread so I can easily click it when I'm finished reading the whole thread. Is that possible?

Reggie,
At least in the way i have setup my account, there is a "Site Navigator" bar that floats along the left edge of the screen, and provides a fly out menu including a "Home" button when I mouse over it.

Re: Thread prefixes
Reggie, you can also just hit the home key on your keyboard to get back to the top of the page.

Re: Thread prefixes
I also like the prefix feature.
I can only think of [Need advice], [Sharing lessons learned], and..
[ BEWARE! ].. (for those threads that mysteriously keep pulling me toward the dark side.)

Re: Thread prefixes
Ok I should explain a bit how these work. Thread prefixes are assigned in sets. Then, you assign the set to a group of forums. Right now we are defining the set that applies to the all the forums under the Headings of "Woodworking" and the specific forums "Hand Tools" & "Power Tools" Other forums, not mentioned, I thinbk different prefix sets need to be used, that's even if they need a prefix set. So one of things we don't want to do, is use a prefix that would undermine the proper placement of a thread in its correct forum . To give you all an idea of what I mean, I've shown some of the suggestions below and the ones I think might undermine proper forum usage and the forums I think they may interfere with.

Good Info > Added
Problem > Added but with different terminology, see below
Good Price => Found for sale/Hot deals
Shop Pics => Work shops

Also I'd like make sure that people feel they can disagree. For instance, no one has said, I hate them. I suspect some do and might feel embarrassed to say it. Or what is even worse, is people think that just because I added a feature, it must stay. Not true.

Re: Thread prefixes
the pre-fixes are screwing with my eyes pretty badly... but I just learned that I should be wearing glasses now, so that may be part of the problem. I'll get back on this when I can see again, prolly some time after wednesday

Re: Thread prefixes
not sure, let me get my lens prescription first, I just played some with resolution settings, and text size. it seems better, I will know much more on wednesday - if the lenses are ready. crazy thing is, I knew going into the appointment that I needed some help, but it became much more clear, after the optometrist played with the settings on the vision-ometer (?) thingy.

Re: Thread prefixes
I like the prefixes personally. I think it adds a common title (prefix) to the threads and allows you to know at a glance what the thread is about. JMTCW
