You will see on the right hand side of many pages of the website, and ad for Rockler. These ads are different than the Google adsense ads that you are currently seeing at the top of the page.

The way these work is simple. If you click on the ad and then eventually purchase (30 days?) something from them, North Carolina Woodworker, Inc. will receive 5% of the net purchase. If you request a catalog from them, we will get $.75.

As usual, I will do my best to make the ads as unobstrusive as possible but still receive enough noticeability to get clicks.

As far as positioning, etc., this will probably change and I will definitely be experimemting with all ads.

Please feel free to post you comments and suggestions. We will really need your comments and suggestions.

The html for the add comes from the Rockler itself. I think I may be able to modify to get the desired result, but I'm not sure given they way they are doing it and the way I am adding the ad. I will look at it as soon as I get a chance and will report back.

BTW, we have another advertiser, who will pay us in approximately the same way. Highland Hardware. Just haven't decided where to put it yet. Also giving thought to rotating the ads. I am waiting on another potential advertiser and to see their "form factor".

Steve,

I jsut saw the Rockler ad and think it's a great idea. Whenever I have scrolled to the bottom of a page, I always saw the blank space and thought "what a waste", now you've put it to good use.

YES!

Great thing there, I will be sure to always order though one of those so we get the income for the site.

If the ads won't always be on the page, can you create a page with all of the links that the site gets a kickback on when you click through and buy something? That way we don't have to search for the banner if we want to order from one of these places.

Doesn't Amazon have an affiliate program too that gives a cut of every purchase? Even if you don't want to put an Amazon ad up on every page, it could be on the list of links page.

The Rockler ads are attractive ... and always seem to get me in trouble.

A dedicated page will happen one way or another. As for amazon, not sure about that one yet.

Thanks for the ideas.

Don't mind the Rockler ads at all Steve! Not too intrusive and I buy from them often. Now.........if our members could receive discounts too (aka Woodnet) that would be great!!!!!!

Again.......... Thanks for all that you do and if a few ads pay the bills; well that is fantastic in itself!

Thanks once more!

Wayne
