Yesterday I talked to Paul, the manager at the Raleigh Klingspor. He said they usually have a Carver's competion yearly, but this year they want to expand the competition to almost all woodworking areas.

North Carolina Woodworker is being invited to sponser and have our members submit entries in the various categories. The show will be at the Raleigh Klingspor store in April. Exact date TBD. Besides, hopefully, having a great representation of our members' work in the competitions, they will need volunteers to help with all the mundane tasks of putting on a show, from checking in entries to supplying people to run demos, etc. Besides the competion, Paul wants to have something going on all day.

There will be prizes ranging from ribbons to CASH

This will be a great opportunity to strut our stuff and gain some more recognition for the site but also for our talented members.

Details will be forthcoming.

Sounds like a great opportunity Steve. Even if I don't have a project to enter, I would be willing to help out with the "mundane tasks of putting on a show" stuff. As a fairly new member it sounds like a great opportunity to get to meet some other North Carolina Woodworker members and learn a little something in the process.

Steve,

I'd love to enter the last thing I built... but I'm not sure how to get it to the Klingspor store.. (just finished and dedicated another house )

Re: Raleigh Klingspor Woodworking Show

Steve, definetely count me in. Either with the mundane task or some projects (might be mundane too).
I think that it is a great idea, there is alot woodworking interest and talent here in the Raleigh area.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Raleigh Klingspor Woodworking Show

Just wondering if this show is a definite thing? If more than carving exhibits - what else?

As far as I know it is definite. There will be a lot of categories. When will know? as soon as Paul let us know. My undrstanding is that brochure is being printed.
