Ok, I've been threatening this for a long time, well, I am in the process of doing it now. The general use of including pictures in your posts by using the attachments is now against policy, except in a few cases, which will require your good judgement. To back up your judgement, we'll also use the moderator's. If you attach a picture to a post, the picture will be placed in moderation. A staff member will have to approve it before it will show. In most cases they will NOT approve it and will delete it.

What attachments will be allowed. Ones that are a single use and no value expect within that post/thread.

Staff, I'm sorry for the extra work. Members, I'm sorry, you'll just have learn the "correct" way.

Staff, I haven't finished editing all the forum settings to make this happen. If you have permissilons to get into the Forum Manager, please go ahead and set attachments to be moderated.

Help me clear the cob webs from my head. Does this mean I can not post a picture in a post to show a recently completed project?

I just uploaded a couple images to my gallery of a TV cabinet under the "recent projects" category. What and how do I present that piece in a post now?

Sorry for being so ignorant!!!

Jerry

If I remember correctly, if a photo is in your gallery you are inserting the picture in your post, which is allowed.

Attaching photo's in when you copy an image from your computer or the web and it is not in your gallery. That is not allowed any more.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong about that.

I do not know how to do it. Do I have the authority to make these changes?

Jerry, it seems that you know how to put pictures in your gallery. But it also appears that when you want to put that picture in a post, you upload it again as an attachment. So your pictures are there twice, exactly what I want to stop.

Look at this thread You've been using the what Monty calls the attachment method, but you have already uploaded the pictures to your gallery, so you can and should use the insertion method.

Hey, no reason to wait . . . just upload to your gallery, click on the picture icon in post, and paste in the link to the photo. It may help to have two windows open so you can copy the url from the picture, then paste it into pic link. Do it once, and you will never forget

HTH,
Roger

Sapwood, after reading your post I have changed my mind. I think I will just forget inserting a picture in a post.

Steve----------that thread mentions a BB code directly under the URL---That is not showing up on my screen.

When I made the first post about the TV cabinet, I was trying to use the "insert image" method by copy/paste the URL from under the picture in my gallery. Can not figure where I goofed.

So, I guess what you are saying is you don't want us linking from photo bucket or any other picture sharing site. You want us to to load our pictures from, say, photo bucket tot he gallery and then link from the gallery. Do I have it right?

Geoff,
There isn't any problem using a link to another picture site. What Steve is referring to is uploading a picture directly into the post you are making.

Forbidden is such a harsh term. No longer allowed, blocked all sound better than "forbidden".
