I have been asked by several of you if we were ever going to have an option for mobile phone users that would make it easier to surf North Carolina Woodworker on smaller size screens. I am attaching a poll to see how many people would like this option. Please vote yes, no, or it does not really matter.

Re: NCWW Mobile???

Jim,

You are in the right ballpark with understanding, but not the part that makes it relevant here. The only choices I get for notification are email based and the frequency is instant or digests (which can be daily or weekly). If you choose instant, then you will be notified only once until you visit the forum again.

What makes it relevant here is that I wish there was another option besides email for text messages. I know they are just emails also, but I would not want all site related email to be text messages, just certain things. If I were meeting a few people for lunch and would not be at the computer in the morning, I might set notification to go to text messages. I can't do that now. If someone posted a "see you there" and a few minutes later someone posted to ask if I could bring something, I would not get the second message using the options we have now.

Re: NCWW Mobile???

I didn't post my thoughts nor did I vote in the poll, mainly because I wouldn't be using it anyway. Phones are made for talking, not web surfing or glorified emailing, aka "texting." Not trying to be difficult here or make anyone mad at me, just stating my opinions. I have text messaging blocked on my phones. Ya wanna chat with me? Dial the ^$%#@ numbers. Ya wanna email me? Use the computer and email me, the conventional way.

I've developed this mindset towards texting and web browsing via cell phones by being forced to endure inconsiderate people and their incessant keytones. My breaks at work now sound like a morse code convention interspersed with wild sounds that are supposed to be music of some sort.
Oh well, enough on that subject. I sincerely hope that those of you would use this feature, will do so being considerate of others and NEVER engage in texting or web surfing while driving. The one you kill might be me.

Re: NCWW Mobile???

With a three to one vote, it is time to bring this before the board. I am closing this thread as I will start another one when the decision is made. Thanks for all that replied and voted.
