We'd like your opinion on some changes we'd like to make to the main page.

Feel free to comment and vote in the Poll.

1. Remove the "User Settings" and "Contacts" boxes in the right hand column (above the Klingspor Ad).

"User Settings" can still be reached from the Red Navigation Bar at the top of each page as well as the Floating Menu.

2. New homemade version of "Online Users"

We've successfully built this on our test site, so here are some screen shots of how it would look, should we upgrade.

In the new vBulletin phraseology, Contacts are now called Buddies.

We now can see how many of us are online, how many guests and how many Buddies:

This is the box opened up. There are no Buddies Online at this time:

This is the box with Buddies Online:

So, if you have some opinions, please share them. I'd like to push this change, if approved mid-next week.

Thanks!
Jim

Re: New "Online Users" Survey

You guys are doing great stuff!!

I was going to suggest two unrelated items, but at least one has been fixed or my computer is working better-

1. The "Forums" drop down menus were always disappearing before I could select the one I wanted. Sometimes I had to start over and cursor over "Forums" two or three times before catching the sub-menu item I wanted. It seems to work fine now. Was this just me or did you guys fix the timing or something?

2. The are many forums I seldom read, other than when an item appears in "Recent Threads." Is there anyway we could have a "user-customized" Forum Menu and or Navigation Bar? Something like this:

General Woodworking
Workshops
Power Tools and Their Use

Forum Menu >>

p.s. Is it possible to turn off the pop-out Site Navigation Bar?

.

Re: New "Online Users" Survey

Surprise!!!

I've added the new box!

For a few days, you can see the two boxes next to each other.

Feedback is welcome. Mainly from folks who use Contacts/Buddies lists.

If this is acceptable, I'll finish my evil plan Friday evening......

Thanks,
Jim

Re: New "Online Users" Survey

Ok folks at home and our studio audience....

We've now closed down 3 boxes and replaced them with one happy new box!

User Settings box is now closed. You can still access your settings in the upper right hand corner of the red menu bar.

Contacts is closed. You will find your contacts now listed in the NCWWers Online box in the front of the list of users. They will be in Bold and follwed by the "PM X" like you had in the contacts box. You also now can see in the title of NCWWers Online a total count of your Buddies.

Online Users is closed. NCWWers Online now replaces it. This box is smaller in size, and has more summary info in the title.

Thanks for all the feedback, you helped make this change more useful than I could have envisioned.

Jim
