Klingspor Extravaganza Woodworking Show

Friday Oct 26 & Saturday Oct 27, 2007

More details at Klingspor's Web Site

Hickory Metro Convention Center
Hickory, NC
(directions here)

Gathering of NC Woodworkers to follow (further details TBA). Be sure to mark your calendars and set aside time for this event! Start making carpool plans now! We had a great time in previous years! (click to see pics from the 2005 and 2006 Extravaganzas!)

We're still finalizing plans, but Klingspor has once again graciously offered plenty of space for our gathering. There will be plenty of room to show off our work and run some demonstrations (woodturning, scrollsawing, or maybe something else... we're open to ideas & suggestions!). And on Saturday we'll have a nice room to gather together for fellowship and some more of that great BARBECUE!

Once again, in an effort to obtain a reasonable estimate of how many will attend this event, please reply in this thread if you plan to attend. If you can, plan to bring a few projects along to show off!

See you there!

Yea I have to agree that I'd rather be on my way to France, but the truth is I can't even get to Hickory right now. I hope, with all of these people going, there are a lot of posts on the newest and latest goodies out there in the woodworking world: HINT, HINT

France is full of French people, Hickory is full of woodworkers. I'd rather be in Hickory, but alas it's not meant to be because of previous commitments. Everybody enjoy !

It's on the calendar.
My wife requested it off.
It's the only show she she likes to go to.

We have some pretty cool demos already lined up! We have four members who are signed up to do some demos on Saturday - should be really awesome! Mike wants to be able to set up and work "off and on" with his demo throughout the day, which is perfect for the type of project he's doing. I think it would be nice to maybe split up the day so no member feels like they need to be "stuck" in the booth for too long. There's no reason we can't have two demos going on at the same time - in fact, the more the better!

Does anyone want to do some demos on Friday? I might be able to turn some pens or something during the day - I'll have to see how it will work with my work schedule.

Anyway, click here to see the sign-up list, and add your name if you want to do something!

Thanks again!!!

Would love to share the fun if anybody wants to chop or carve.
If I where to even try to do anything like that, the only demo would be that of emergency medicine and how to remove blood stains from perfectly good wood.

Do we even have any people that will be at the show on Friday, besides myself? Any projects that will be displayed?

Monty are we setting up the booth on Friday Morning or Thursday night, etc., etc.

I will be in Hickory late on Thursday afternoon and will not be leaving until Sunday morning.

If any of folks working the booth have any North Carolina Woodworker clothing, it would be a great time to wear it.

Or, if anybody wants some NCWoodworker gear but doesn't want to order online... we'll have some of these at the show (discounted, of course! )

I think we'll have some bumper stickers there, too.
