Clay, we will have two midi lathes (mine and Woodguy's), and I will probably bring my 8" grinder - I have a Wolverine kit on it. I can bring some very basic turning tools (since that's all I have ). If you want to bring some basic gear (like your favorite mandrel and turning tools) that might be nice.

We could also use some prepared blanks (already glued and trimmed and ready to turn). That will make for an enjoyable experience and a good demonstration. I will probably prepare some prior to the show also. We don't need a lot - realistically how many can we crank out during a single day at the show?

Nick -- I'll look forward to seeing you and others in Hickory -- but my reason for jumping into this thread goes further -- my daughter lives in Homestead Park (just west of Kelly Rd. off Olive Chapel) and Steve Coles lives within 500 yards of her in Abington (?sp), off Kelley Rd. It's a small world. My wife and I were at our daughter's last weekend and this past weekend, too; took care of our 6-month old grandson while she had a little time away with friends. I'll try to contact you next time we come down to Apex to see if we can get together, but for sure I'll see you in Hickory.

I had planned to be there early Friday and enjoy the day. However, I have to take my mother (93 yrs. old) to her doctor's appointment Friday and some other things have come up. I do plan to attend Saturday, though. When is the NCwoodworkers get-together?

Although the will be many members there on all days, I think that Saturday is the official day that the lunch and everything is planned.

I was going to use my telepathic prowess to convince everyone not to go on Saturday so I'd have clear access to all of the booths. But then my wife reminded me I just get a headache whenver I try that and nobody listens so I guess we will fight the crowds with everybody else!

I unfortunately will not be able to make it. I have been out of town this week unexpectedly.

I drove 3 hours one way friday and got to see John April, and few of the members here(I have a hard time with names)
I guess the rain must have stopped some from coming but the nice thing wa I had more time to speak with the reps, and the people from Klingspoor.
(even met the owner and his wife.)
Had a nice talk with Coleman
For all of you who are there today I hope you enjoy yourselves.!It's a nice day to be in the shop.

I went on Friday and got to meet/have lunch with John, April, and Roger (sapwood). AND I got to see John's new table in person which was worth the trip.

I'm not going today - it's as if someone is sending me some kind of telepathic signals or something.

It was nice meeting many of you today at the show. While the show wasn't everything I had expected (with regards to deals I couldn't go home without), it was still really good and props to Klingspor for coordinating such an event! Of course even without the show, the North Carolina Woodworker gathering was worth the drive! Thanks to Steve, Monty, Clay, and anyone else who helped coordinate that ... great food, great people, great time!

Dave - You are "box master"
WalnutJerry - You are "chair master"
Cathy - You are "Scroll master"
Steve - You are "Webmaster"

And it appears that MANY of you are "Pen masters"!
