Which of the 2 days do you see having the conference room drinks, BBQ, etc.

I think we can have the room for the entire show duration, but we should setup a fixed get together time to meet and eat. Why not have something go on both days since some will come on Friday and others will come on Saturday. I'll be teaching during the entire show so having the get together physically at the show is the only way I could make a get together.

What about getting together for lunch both days?
I can call around and get a place setup for catering so all we'll need is the number of folks for each day. Also my intent is to have the room setup so we can bring our peices and let folks take a look at them while the show is going and always have a meeting place for spur of the moment get togethers. Maybe even drum up a few new members. It would be good for NCwwer and Klingpor's.

Thanks,

John

John -- I'm hoping to be there both days -- my wife and sister leave the 25th for a cruise in the Caribbean and I'm going to be a bachelor for more than a week. I might even book a room for the first night to avoid the extra 200 mile round trip. Looking forward to the show.

That's cool, John. Once we know we can have the room, we can make better plans. I would like to see a bit of a showcase of NC Woodworker's talents. We can print up some fliers about NCWoodworker.net and use this as an opportunity to promote the web site as well. I think it will be better than ever!

That is exactly what I was thinking. I think it is good for Klingspor's too. I'll check back with Coleman on the room. I'm sure he will make it work out.

Sounds fun, but due to a recent, and nearly fatal, case of ToolBuyer-itus, I'm afraid of how long I would have to sleep with one eye open. Heck, I'm not so sure about that now!

Sorry I won't be there; eat a few hamburgers and buy some tools for me.

OK guys,

We have a room for all day on Saturday at the show for a get together. I guess there is an interferance with it on Friday. Coleman suggested we have a banner or some means of identifying that it is NCwwer.net to drum up membership and to draw people to check out what we have on display.

Any volunteers with connections to make up a banner? I've got the room. I'll leave it to someone else to make up the banners.

Thanks,

John

That's good news! I have no idea about making a banner, but I'm sure someone here can hook us up! We can definitely promote the web site at this event. At present count we have 25 people who clicked on the RSVP link. Hopefully we can gather some good representative projects to show the talents of this group!

What size banner are you thinking of? What material? Mounted? Laminated?
Do you want it for just this show or something you can save and reuse?

We have a large format printer at work that uses roll material 42" wide. So banner can be 42 by however long you want. It can be plain paper, heavy gloss, mounted on foamcore and/or laminated, or banner material with gromets.

The bad news is that it's not my shop. Cost starts at about 6 bucks a sq ft. I can probably get some discount but the owner is a bit er.....well, I'd rather not say in a public forum

Let me know what you want and I'll see about getting a price.
(i can do the layout and design so that would be free)

I would think something like 30x36" would work great. Something we can sit on an ease out in front of the door. The thought is to allow folks to come and view our work until the gathering time and then basically close it off to nonmembers for a period so we can have our get together. As far as the cost for the sign I'll chip in whatever too. It should be designed so it can be reused for future shows. Try not to have any dates or particular reference to the exact function on it.

FOOD!
Hickory Metro won't let other folks cater in food into the center so we are restricted to working with the facility on that. Coleman said we can arrange for food and drinks with the center for our get together. We'll just have to talk to them and get setup for the number of folks and what we want. If we go that route everyone will just have to pay their part.

How does that sound?

Thanks,

John

I gave the specs (production gloss paper mounted and laminated) to the boss man (I cheated a little). Have to see what he comes up with.

In the meantime, If you email me a vector (.eps) version of the logo and whatever else you want it to say I can go ahead and get the layout done.

Thanks for your help Pete. I'll work on getting the vector version. I think the cost of the sign won't be an issue. Regarding the food, I'd rather do it in a way that people won't have to pay individually... maybe we can work something out.
