SteveColes SteveColes is online now 02-25-2008, 12:17 PM

March 1st 9:00 - 3:00
What I hope is that we can have at least 2 people there for those hours. One to man the desk and answer questions about the site and one to actually turn the pens. Since we want to get as many people as possible involved, double discounts, I thought we could do one hour shifts at each.

So here is the sign up sheet. Please only sign up if you are sure you can make it.

Desk:
9 -10 toolferone
10 - 11 Mike L
11 - 12 Doug Robinson
12 - 1 Roger (aka Sapwood)
1 - 2 DaveO (as needed)
2 - 3 sawduster
Demo
9 -10 Woodartz (Bob) Pen Turning
10 - 12 Bas Worksharp
12 - 1 DaveO
1 - 2 ?????
2 - 3 ?????
It is first come first serve. Please reply for time(s) you want and I will update the list.

Hey dave, you don't get a double discount for each slot you signed up for

Seriously, if you don't mind, just sign up for one slot, so we don't confuse anyone with what's open. Then on Friday night you & I can double up where needed. Thanks!

Hope that's ok,

Maybe I'll learn how from DaveO and "turn" out to be an idiot savant at it. Then I can man the lathe for an hour.

I wish I was a little closer and did not have a data center shut down this week end. I would be proud to represent North Carolina Woodworker and turn some pens

Hello Steve and everyone else,

I was wondering if this is the Raleigh Klingspor? If so I'll plan to go and say hello and see what you've got. I really need to get my own work shop and a bunch of tools, well a Table saw, Jointer, Plainer, Etc... At Kadena air base Okinawa Japan they had al that to use for $30 a month and they have nothing here at seymour, what is a man to do with himself without tools?
Well if anyones closing shop or wants to sell some stuff I am interested. I'm thinking of getting a Powermatic table saw for $2800 from Rockler, but I am still looking for a good deal, good quality table saw. Anyway I am rambling.

See you Saturday.

Matthew

Matt, it is at the Raleigh Klingspor of Crapital Blvd. (US1). Drop by, I would enjoy meeting you in person.
Pay attention to our classifieds, great deals on tablesaws and other "needed" machinery comes around often. With patience it will come to you

Dave,

Thanks for letting me know, I have been there before and was very impressed. You said pay attention to our classifieds? Are you an owner of Klingspor? Yes patience is something I need to master....Ok I think I have waited long enough! Time to buy a table saw, yuppie! Plus my wife said I was allowed

Oh I was wondering about the Saw stop compared to a powermatic. I know the saw stop has the riving knife the follows the blade up and down and to the side. That impressed me, but was not sure if it was necessary. This will be my first table saw and want a good long lasting one that I wont have to upgrade anytime soon.

Thank guys,

Matthew

Our classifieds as in on this site. I am not affiliated with Klingspor in any way other than they have my second born child in return from tools If you wife has given you permission better jump on it before she changes her mind.
I suggest that you start a new thread about the Sawstop compared to the Powermatic and all about riving knives That'll give me time to get some popcorn...it will be one heck of a thread.
Dave

We still need more pen turners, please

I can bring the "end millls, 7mm mandrels, assembly tools, etc" . I suggest you bring your own tools, But I'll have at least a smaller roughing gouge.

Paul, is there a grinder and wolveriine jig?

CA finish?? Anyone want to do one?
