We would like to have 2 things going on at once. One will be a demo and the other will be a "Make Your Own Pen" activity.

So to sign up, either post in this thread or if you would rather PM me the following information.

  • A short description of what you are going to do
  • Whether or not it is a Demo or Audience Participation
  • Any other people who will be involved
  • Day(s) you can do it fri and/or sat
  • Your ideal time slots, First Second, and Third
  • What equipment you will need and what you can not bring your self.
  • Any other pertinent info.
Demos
These will be done in our dedicated area. You can demonstrate some skill or technique. You can simply do your thing and answer questions from any audience you may have. This is what we have usually done in the past.

11:30 - 12:30 - McRabbet (Rob Payne - Kreg Pocket Screw Demo)
12:30 - 2:00 - OUR LUNCH
2:00 - 3:00 - Scott Miller (scrollsaw demo)
3:00 - 4:00 - McRabbet (Rob Payne - Worksharp Demo)
4:00 - 5:00
Saturday
9:30 - 10:30 - Toolferone (bandsaw box demo)
10:30 - 11:30 cskipper (Cathy Skipper) scroll saw demo
11:30 - 12:30 AlexL (Pen turning)

Thanks for bringing you scroll saw! I'll bring some extra blades on Sat. Scott - you might want to bring a couple too.

Re: Demos and Audience Participation signup - Klingspor Show

Put me down tentatively as an audience participation during Cathy's first demo on Saturday. If I understand what she is saying and she'll let me drive, I can tentatively participate in scrollsawing.

The tentative part is me finding enough time to break away from my studies to come out. I'll probably only be able to stay long enough to say hello, learn how to scrollsaw, walk around the store and head back home. This is the Hickory location right? (since Steve has asked that we not post general replies here, can someone PM me with directions and approximate time travel from South Raleigh? - Near Garner)

Thanks,
Will

Will -- click on the Klingspor Ad in the upper right side of the Home page. Then follow their info on the event and you'll get the directions. The Hickory Convention Center is at Exit 125 from I-40, so it is about 175 miles from Garner via I-40. Allow about 3+ hours each way.

Steve,

Sounds good. We can bring Alex's lathe and tools if needed. I will have him prep a few blanks in advance. He will also have some of his pens to display.

Wonderful, we are supposed to have a mini-lathe there already, but if it is not a problem, you might want to bring his just in case. Certainly, Bring his tools. If he's like me, he'll be happier with his own.

I've added two demos for Friday: Kreg K3 jig for the morning and Worksharp 3000 for the afternoon.

You are a gentleman and scholar.Thank you.

I have that jig all set up on a board with limit stops etc. Would you like me to bring it? I'm gonna bring the whole worksharp setup with the new attachment?

If you noticed that i'm bring all sorts of pen making supplies, and are wondering why, I have another thing planned. If I can get a Drill Press, there, we will run a "make your own pen" audience Participation., most of both days., If I can get enough volunteers to take time slots, so I don't have do all of them myself.

If you can bring your setup for the Kreg jig, that would be great just to show how a unit can be set up to improve its functionality. I'll bring mine, too (in case we break a drill bit [perish the thought!]) and to show the basic package that a buyer gets for his/her money. I'll also bring some test pieces for several examples of joinery that can be done with pocket screws.

Steve, I am not the best pen turner but I have made a few. Just ask Robert and Glenn. I can help out with this effort on Friday. Are you bringing turning and assembly tools?
