Re: Where to get "free granite"?

About a month ago I posted a message saying I had free granite. I received many interested replies and finally gave it to the first responder that said he wanted it. However, I still have it due to the extremely poor customer service at the stone yard. Apparently the folks at the stone yard made this simple tranaction much to difficult for our fellow NCWWer. I definately want to give this stone away to a fellow woodworker whom I am sure will put it to good use. The stone I have is a 3cm thick slab S2S and the color is autumn brown. The size should be approx 6 x 10 but it may be smaller now because the stone yard has probably cut some off for small jobs - assuming I would never come back. If you want the whole very heavy piece, you will need to arrange for transportation and unloading at your site. PLEASE DO NOT THINK ABOUT MOVING THIS STONE WITHOUT THE PROPER EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING! If you do not need this large of piece I think the stone yard will either cut it for $75 or trade it for some smaller pieces. If you only need one small piece possibly some other NCWWers would like the others. Please reply back or PM or email me and I am sure we can arrange something. Thanks

Re: Where to get "free granite"?

There's a granite shop in NW Raleigh that advertises their scrap on Craigslist, free to dumpster divers. I don't know what they may have: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/hsh/1012381826.html
