Name: ChrisM City: Raleigh State: NC County: Wake Join Date: Oct 2008 Avg Visit Freq/Week = 5.57 over 98 days | I'm finishing up a set of barrister bookcases. I did plate glass in my last set of cases (oak) and it's ok. This set is walnut and it is looking pretty nice, so I'm thinking about spending the extra $$$ for beveled glass. Any idea where to get this made in the Raleigh area?
TIA,
Chris

I can't guarantee that they have beveled glass, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

I am partial to Raleigh Glass of Lake Wheeler Rd. The have been around a long time. If you are not sure about your measurements or you are slightly out of square (the bookcase that is ) then you might think about cutting a template out of a good piece of cardboard or a scrap piece of 1/4 " ply. They can cut the glass using that for an exact fit. |

Good people to deal with. Last time I checked (several years ago) the beveling was an add on at so much a running inch. Pick your kind of bevel and also if you want it tempered or not. |

The template idea is a good one. The doors on the bookcase are removeable and each is about 30x12". I had planned to bring the doors with me. Some cardboard templates might be easier...I'll have to think about that one.
I already made and finished the trim strips to hold in the glass - and have pre-drilled screw holes based on 1/16" float glass (which was the original plan). I wonder if that's going to cause problems with the beveled glass? I guess the glass guys should be able to figure it out - probably best to bring the frames and trim with me.
Thanks again!
Chris
