Secretary

I'm building a home-made directional antenna to extend my home LAN to my new woodshop. I already have an external omni antenna at the house, and am in the process of building the antenna for the shop end.

I need an RP-TNC connector, and about 30' of a low loss coax such as LMR 400 or B 9913. Does anybody know of any suppliers in the RDU area? I'm looking for something better than what Radio Shack would carry....

Thx.

Scott

Re: Where to find coax and connectors in Raleigh area?

Scott,

I do not know if this will help or not since I know nothing about this stuff, but I have about 60' of coax that is marked: TRIMLINE T660 RG6 E223311C/S 75C 18AWG CM DR CL2SSUN RES(UL)DIGITAL SATELITE CABLE 3000MHZ HR46312 MADE IN USA

If it will help just let me know.

James

I have 75 feet of low loss coax that i bought to set up a ham radio, I'd have to go out and see what the exact type is. But if you are not in a huge hurry I can look tomorrow. If you can use it we can work something out.

James, thanks for the post. The cable that I'm looking for - LMR 400 - has about 1/2 of the RF loss per foot as the RG6.

Appreciate you letting me know though.

Re: Where to find coax and connectors in Raleigh area?

All - thanks for the assist.

I just found exactly what I was looking for on e-bay, and the connector is already crimped on the cable (plus it's a high quality Belden cable to boot!).

29 bucks delivered; I doubt that I could have found it locally for that, plus the time and mileage to pick it up.

Hopefully this project will turn out well - it will be the first time that I've ever manufactured an antenna from scratch...

If you are looking online, check out monoprice.com

The prices can not be beat and some VERY good cables

Scott, if things don't work out, here's my suggestion:

I think this design uses low-loss string....

( I know.... )
