TS Aligner?

Does anybody in my area,Iredell,MECK,or Rowan county have a Deluxe tablesaw Aligner that I could borrow/horsetrade for about 3 days.My table saw needs a good tuneup and I've used one before and it works great.I noticed as I push my material through the blade area I get some tip[ ringing as the wood clears the edge of the blade.I have a problem everytime I tilt the blade to 45 degrees to make some cuts and after I return it to 90 I start having alignment related problems.

Re: TS Aligner?

I have one, but I'm in Charlotte in the Rocky River area to the east side of the city. You can borrow it if nothing else falls thru.

Re: TS Aligner?

Greg,

I cobbled together this little sled to hold a dial indicator and use it to align both blade to the mitre slot and blade to the fence. (Idea was courtesy of non other than Joe Scharle - the jig master.) Just took a piece of 3/4 ply, 1 1/2 piece of flat steel (for the magnetic base of the indicator, screws and a runner. It works great and took about 45 minutes to put it together.

(Sorry 'bout the fuzzy pics.)

Re: TS Aligner?

Jeremy,
I may have to make a run to drop off some items at Bodabings and he lives off 485 at the 521 exit so at that point from Mooresville I figure I've driven near everybody at some point.I will PM you if the chance arises.

Wayne,
I built something very similar to your jig but I don't have an indicator yet.I was using a dowel pin adjusted to just touch the teeth of the blade but doing it that way is too slow.

Thanx guys for the response,
Greg

Re: TS Aligner?

Beg, borrow, or steal, or even buy a copy of John White's book, "Care and Repair of Shop Machines." He shows how to use a couple scraps of wood and a dial indicator to do the same work as A-Line It, and Master plate.
