Table saw blade sharpening

Where do you all get your table saw blades sharpened? Is there a place in the triangle area, or do you send them off? What are the costs typically? Any info you guys have would be awesome

Re: Table saw blade sharpening

What is the typical cost? Is it per tooth, or by the blade? Does the type of tooth grind impact the cost? Do they sharpen router bits too?

Sorry for all the questions, but this is the first time I've had a need for this in my woodworking career, and I'm at a bit of a loss

Re: Table saw blade sharpening

i believe they charge by the tooth. I had several sharpend a few weeks ago and my 15" blades were 18.50 each to sharpen. they are 100 or 110 tooth blades so the price is reasonable concidering new blades would be well over 100 bucks!

Re: Table saw blade sharpening

As a matter of fact I happen to work for Raleigh Saw, so I might be little biased. Basically we charge by the tooth, but it is in ranges. A 10" 50 tooth is about $15 ( I am not at work and have not memorized price yet) It is approximately a week turn around. Call me at the shop tomorrow if you have anymore questions.

Thanks for the info everyone. Once again this community helps me out!

Tom, I will give you a call tomorrow, and almost certainly will end up going that route.

They may have gone up in the last 6 months, but the last one I had sharpened was 25¢/tooth (50 tooth combo) and I had it back a week after I mailed it. I mail it in, call them with a CC number and they mail it back. If I remember correctly planer knives and jointer knives are about 50¢/inch.

Those prices and format sound like dynamic saw - www.dynamicsaw.com

I have had good results from them, but now that Tom works for Raleigh saw I might use them in the future.

Tom, do they sharpen router bits and hand saws?

The answer is yes to both. We do a fine job on the router bits. I will confess that I would only have them sharpen your basic hand saws. I would leave your good saws and small dovetail saws at home. The price for the handsaws is $7.00.

Re: Table saw blade sharpening

Does anyone know if the circular saw sharpener from CHICAGO ELECTRIC POWER TOOLS is any good, or would you just be destroying your blade?

Re: Table saw blade sharpening

IMHO, my saw blades will go to a professional saw sharpening service long before I would attempt to sharpen them myself -- it is imperative that each tooth is sharpened at the correct angle and depth, or the cut will not be balanced. I'll use a hand-held grinding tool on my chain saw blades, but not an expensive carbide saw blade.
