The welding blankets I found are fiberglass rated for 1000 F, but the fireplace stuff is the ceramic rated at 3000. I also found out about another alternative - 100% clay clumping cat litter in an old cast iron hibachi! |

That's probably the best option if I want to do this a few times and have it on hand. |
