Question Router table insert

I'm wondering if any one makes a router table insert to the
following approximate dimensions...14-9/16" x 11-7/16" x 1/4 thick.

Is that an odd size or a standard size?
I need one that will accept a Bosch 1617EVS router.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for any and all help, suggestions, ideas.

Re: Router table insert

That is certainly a big one. Who made the table?

Central Machinery is the brand name, but who actually
made it is unknown. It was on sale at Harbor Freight, I
was in need of a router table and thought this would fit
the bill.

Actually, it is exactly like a Bosch model RA1181 router table.
The problem I have is the insert is made specifically for
a weird router that came with the table and is fixed to the
insert.

I guess you gets what you pays fer!! Trying to save a little
money and it will probably wind up costing more in the long
run.

Thanks,

Woodrat

Re: Router table insert

If you can re bore the plate, I suggest you photocopy the base and use it for a drilling template. That's what I do and I make the copy on a transparency. However, goggle may find a new one for you.

Re: Router table insert

Archie - after you get the router plate business sorted out, please post a report on how you like the table. I assume you got this one:

I don't much care for the router it comes with (obviously, you feel the same way), but the table & fence looked very solid. It's no Norm, but for the price (especially with a 20% off coupon) it's hard to beat.

Bas,

That's the one I have. It is, except for the insert, the same thing
as the Bosch RA1181. I had the Bosch for a long time and had to
sell it a while back.

As far as liking the Bosch table, I loved it. Now if I can get the
insert(router plate) thing straightened out, I'm sure it will be as good
a table as my original.

My thoughts are........... 1.Try to redrill the mounting holes. OR
..................................2. Cut a piece of material to fit the space
and router out a place for a new (standard) plate. OR
..................................3. Cut material to fit space and drill holes
for my router.

Either way it should still be a good value.

What ever I come up with will be posted here.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Archie

Re: Router table insert

No problem to make one. All I do is set the router down, scribe around it, mark the screw holes, and center. Drill and put together. I made my own table and inserts. http://community-2.webtv.net/Jakofal...MYROUTERTABLE/

Theo,

That is probably what I'll end up doing...making my own.
Good concept you have with different routers already
mounted and ready to go.

Thanks for the input.

Re: Router table insert

The bases probably ran around 25 cents each. If I ever get a router with different screw locations, all I need to do is either rout out a new base, or recycle one by drilling new screw holes. I'm not cheap, I'm frugal. Anyway, making your own is good for the soul.
