Appreciate any recommendations for sources of soapstone in the area and are willing to work with you on price. The ideal source would be a stone yard that would do the dimensioning for me as I don't have the horses to handle entire slabs. I have built desk base and wish to use SS as top. I need 2 pcs 72x33 inches, 2 pcs 48x24 inches for now.

I believe the timber industry was used in the story to disguise the local economy. The foundation of the place we rebuilt nearby was made of "leftover" slabs of the soapstone. Kinda between Charlottesville and Lynchburg. What a neat place.  Sigh.
