She likes Mission style, but does not want a whole lot of vertical slats .... some are ok, but not a lot. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There is a chair plan for purchase about 3 or 4 entries down that has few slats and might be what you're looking for. Throw "free" in front of your inquiry, and you might get some decent free plans.

The number of side slats in my chair are about half the number the the plan called for. Very easy to change this part of the plan
