Anyone know if any of those HTC cheapo mobile base's are still
around? Any body got one they would part with?

I need one for my router table and don't want to spend more on
it than I did on the router table. Guess I should have bought
spares when HD had them on sale.

Thanks,

Woodrat.

May not be what you want to do or may not work in your particular situation, but look in my gallery and see what I did on my jointer with a scrap of 3/4 ply and 20.00 worth of wheels from the borg. I am happy. I put 4 swivel casters on it so the steering was easy into tight spaces.

I have a cheapo HF mobile base under one of my tablesaw's but I am going with the casters/plywood method for the rest of my machines and benches. I currently have 20 locking swivel casters I got from Northern Tool waiting to be made into bases. I am just a LITTLE behind in shop setup

Re: mobile base

I have found that Tractor supply has a good selection of casters. Actually much better than Lowes. I haven't been to Northern in a while though.

Re: mobile base

Archie, I saw ONE of the HTC bases at the HD at 540 and hwy 64 last week. Don't know if it's still there but you might check.
Good luck,

Re: mobile base

Archie, IIRC it was on the aisle with the folding sawhorses, not in tool world...

Re: mobile base

Sorry Archie, I'm fresh out. I snagged the last three at the Home Depot here in Cary a few months ago when they were on sale for $20, those all found a home with various NCWWers. You may want to check around, but I can tell you the store in Apex doesn't have any either.... Like Randy said, check the aisles that have the sawhorses/ truck tool boxes in addition to Tool World. Who knows, you might get lucky.

For a router table, casters might be a better option actually. The HTC1000 bases are solid, but they need something heavy or they wiggle too easily.

Bas,

I also got some of those on sale for $20.00 and now wish I had gotten
more. At that price, it was a very good deal.

It's no big thing. I'll bide my time and wait for a sale/clearance on them
somewhere and pick up some more.

Thanks,

Archie

Re: mobile base

I see that Rockler has their version of the Delta Universal Base on sale for $35. I have couple of these and they work fine.

Re: mobile base

Don't forget Homier's mobile base. It's the "Harbor Freight" of the internet, but I've had one for 2 years and it works well for my PM bandsaw. IIRC it's under $25 shipped
