I'd be curious if anyone might have any input on sources for hardwood in the Raleigh area.
I usually don't buy a very big quanity, so I relied for UPS deliverys from Bristol Valley Hardwoods mostly in the past.
I was on my way to the Raulston Aboroeum(sp) last wek and passed a place called , I think, Capitol City Lumber or some such, but was not able to stop and check it out at the time.
Some White ash is next on my shopping list, I think......

Tom,

I moved your Thread to another forum for a better fit -- there are several sources in the Raleigh area -- first, check out the NC Wood Suppliers listing in the "Other Content" window at the left of your screen. Aside from ones listed there for the Raleigh area, you may want to deal with Wall Lumber in Mayodan (NNW of Greensboro) or The Hardwood Store in Gibsonville.

Tom, in the Raleigh area, Capital City Lumber would not be my first choice. Their prices are high and their wood is kept in non-climate controlled storage. Raleigh Hardwood Store, Klingspors Woodworking Store and Woodcraft are great places for S3S wood, but you pay for the machining. Within a decent driving distance is either East Wake Hardwood (Knightdale) and The Hardwood Store of NC (Gibbsonville) and they are the best places for a good selection of rough sawn stock. Another place near the Raulston Arb. is The American Woodlot, their stock is variable on what comes in from local trees and can be either kiln dried, air dried or green. But their prices and willingness to talk are good assets. There are other places listed on our NC Wood Suppliers List that I haven't had experience with but are also worth a call. The Triangle area has a decent selection of hardwood dealers

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.
