Smile Looking for a jointer near Asheville...

If anyone has a 6" or better floor model for sale let me know. I'm set on buying the 6" Ridgid new for $399 + tax so if it's more than that I'm probably going that route. Let me know. Thanks, Peter 828-230-2942

Re: Looking for a jointer near Asheville...

I presume you've checked Craig's List and IWanna.com for any recent listings for this area (or Greenville/Spartanburg), but I wouldn't think you'd go wrong with the Ridgid that you've got your eye on. Our WNC Woodworkers Association meeting is Saturday morning (that's tomorrow at 9:30 AM -- see our website at http://www.wncwa.org for details and directions) and one of our members may know of one that is available -- it's about time you came to a meeting!! Randy Osborne is doing a program on Scary Sharp sharpening of plane blades and chisels, so it will be fun.

Re: Looking for a jointer near Asheville...

Peter, the Ridgid is a great jointer. I don't think that you will find much difference among the other manufactures 6" models. The only way that you'll do much better is to find something used in good condition for about half the cost of new. The sources that Rob listed are going to be your best bet for that, beside our Classified listings.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.
