Lorraine,

Would piano hinge work? I don't think they have a stop.

Lorraine,

If you are making a Secretary-style Desk, Van Dyke's carries a set that provide the mechanism to push-out and retract the wooden supports as the lid is lowered or raised -- see http://www.vandykes.com/product/02314806/ for details. Hardware Source is another vendor you could try ... http://www.hardwaresource.com/Store_...at=638&OrderID=
or Whitechapel's at http://www.whitechapel-ltd.com/tech/...nt_hinge.shtml

Re: Looking hinges for secretary desk top

Ray, it seems that the piano hinge is the only option and not one I had in mind. My minds eye can see my desk open with two brass hintes with rounded edges countersunk into the surface. When looking into various catalogs including White Chapel I can't find anything that will work. The article in White Chapel stated there wasn't a hinge for this application and that people on the years managed to use the desk and work around the hinge that came above the surface of the desk. Thanks for the links, I saved them a favorites for future needs.
