Locating maple

Hey guys, I need to buy some soft maple lumber, but for some reason I haven't had much luck at the 2 dealers I looked for it. I live in Durham, right by South point mall. Do you have any idea where I can get about 50-60 bf of 4/4 and 8/4 maple that's reasonably close to where I live?

I looked at the list of dealers on here, but since I've never worked with any of them I have ni idea what to expect. Thanks for the info!

Re: Locating maple

I would check The Hard Wood Store of NC They are not that far away and they will also deliver to the triangle area. I never have got bad wood from them

Re: Locating maple

Try www.hoodindustries.com

Search around on their website until you fin McEwen Industries (or it might be Lumber). They are located southeast of Raleigh off of I-40. For orders of $500 or more, they have free delivery.

I hope this helps!

Re: Locating maple

I have a ton of what you need but live on the west side of Charlotte. Let me know if you want to come out here. I would travel a little bit towards you to help out. Thanks!

Re: Locating maple

I have gotten so great soft maple from jeff during one of our Harbor Freight wood runs. You can PM jeff to see if he has any left.

Another vote for The Hardwood Store in the big city of Gibsonville. They will have what you need, here's a link. Jeff may have what you need also.

Re: Locating maple

I am sure that you can find what you need either at the Klingspor in Raleigh, Raleigh Hardwoods (Wurth Group) or East Wake Hardwoods. And if you have deep pockets Capital City lumber should have it in stock. Soft Maple is a very common hardwood used often in cabinet making, it is kept in stock like Oak.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Work quick and work something out with Bluthart ... and then use the North Carolina Woodworker Express to deliver it back to Charlotte tomorrow after the Charlotte shop crawl!
