One idea I read (on this board or WoodCentral) is that Pier One stocks glass table tops - presumably either to go with table bases they sell, or as replacements. I have not checked this out, just passing on the suggestion.

I have bought glass and mirror stock from these folks - Raleigh Glass & Mirror Raleigh Glass and Mirror they are off Lake Wheeler Rd. by the lake 779-580. They can do just about anything with glass that you might want, and carry a lot of stock pieces also.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Not trying to steal the thread, but about a month ago, I heard a loud crash while working on my computer in our basement family room -- no one was at home but me and my dog Badger and he was sound asleep across the room. I went upstairs to investigate and saw what looked like a pile of ice on our back deck -- thought it might have slid off the roof. But no, it was about 55 degrees outside. Then I noticed that the pile was under our patio table and the glass was missing -- the darn thing had "exploded" and lay in thousands of pieces with the umbrella still standing in the center of the table. Go figure! Of course it isn't round and would cost me a mint to have it replaced (it had a marbled texture to it and is a rounded corner octagon shape).

Another aside...
We have a glass topped endtable and have vowed to never ever under any circumstances buy another glass topped piece of furniture. Unless you windex it daily, it looks nasty.
Just my $0.02

I have always had good luck with Binswanger glass. They are on the corner of Capital Blvd and Crabtree.

Just about any reputable glass company should be able to make what you want in whatever thickness you want. Beveled, polished, rounded over, etc edges are usually priced by the running inch.

If you aren't looking for perfection look into one of the glass companies making the top out of salvaged store window plate glass and have them put a 'decent' ground/semi polished edge on it.

Most glass companies will also custom cut/order/temper tempered glass for you.

I have replaced those 'marbled' tempered glass outdoor patio tops for about $100 for a 4' diameter piece with a 2" hole in the middle.

I have also had good luck with Binswanger glass on the corner of Capital Blvd and Crabtree. They have been there for at least 30 years (under various names).

Check to see if any of your neighbor's golf balls are in the area
However, if you find an ugly heavy chunk of stuff that looks like melted metal, could be worth something. Heard they pay good money for them meteorite thangs.!!

Talking

I'm the only golfer within 300 yards and I didn't get my clubs (or balls) out that day! And there wasn't any ugly chunk of extraterrestrial stuff underneath neither -- however; my dog Badger continues to bark at all of those
Aliens
that seem (to him) to appear almost daily 'round these parts...

Yeah, just look for an old grocery store, or department store. A former co-worker called them "the hermit crab of discount stores" Sorry I can't help with glass. My dad worked 38 years in the industry, but most of his contacts have changed or gone out of business. I wonder if the Habitat ReUse store might have one? HHGG.org: Re-Store
