Extra Lathe Accessories?

Well Guys,
I just replaced my 12 inch Delta lathe with a 20 inch Woodfast lathe that takes 1 1/4 inch spindle accessories and I am still recovering from the holidays financially. So I was wondering if any of the turners on the site might have an extra chuck there not using that they want to sell.I'm not looking for a giveaway, just a good used price so I can get back to turning.I got my hands on a "used" nova but I can't get the jaws to run true.Heck, when you close them down they do not meet in the center. Are they just dirty?or do I have a used up chuck body.Well,Thanx for any info in advance,Greg B.

Re: Extra Lathe Accessories?

The chuck inner jaws might have been taken apart and not put back in the right order.

Mike,
my old chuck maxed out insert wise at 1"x8 with a weird metric thread in the chuck body,I sold it with the delta knowing this one was 1 1/4" spindle.I will end up buying a new chuck at the Charlotte Show hopefully,I was getting antsy to turn,I've had the lathe for a month and ahalf.Thanx,Greg B

You'll need the map. There seems to be several roads in his area with the same name...I guess they couldn't think of anything better Ashbury Rd.
Beautiful place to visit, pretty country and some fun curvy roads to drive on

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Extra Lathe Accessories?

far from an expert but like mentioned above - take the jaws apart and look for their numbers. The pieces are numbered then cut to line up. Sounds like yours may not be installed in their right order.
No doubt some one on this site will be able to help~
Good luck.

Re: Extra Lathe Accessories?

Mike , Capt'and Toolferone,
well I decided that checking to see that all was put together was a good idea and I'm glad you mentioned it,jaws must have been put on however they would go on cause I found 2 jaws were in the wrong spot and I cleaned enough dried finish , sawdust, and other gunk to throw anything out of balance. The jaws are alittle worn out but at least it looks like it does run true. They also close down enough that a 2 inch hole fits on to the jaws and they all meet edge to edge and it appears to be an older Stronghold Chuck.I'll have to watch ebay for some jaw sets. Thanx guys,Greg B.

'Bout all ya got in VA. Primary roads OK; secondary roads are wagon trails covered with asphalt!
