Charlotte Lumber Yards

I am just starting out in woodworking and was hoping someone could help me out with the lumber yards to use or avoid in the Charlotte area. Preferrably some place that will plane to width as I am still tool-deficient.

Come on guys (and 1 lady I think) somebody must know something about Charlotte lumber vendors :buzzsaw:

Consider this a bump.

Rob, if you post and don't get a response, feel free to bump. Also, free feel to pull a tantrum:letitall: \\/

BTW, did you do a search for members in your county. Sometime aprivate message might get a response when a public one won't. Just don't ask me why

Re: Charlotte Lumber Yards

Sorry, I didn't see your original post...

I have heard of this place, but I've never been there:

Charlotte Hardwood Center

I've heard second-hand that their prices aren't that great... can't tell anything from their web site. I used to go to HH&NK, which had better prices. They were in King's Mtn (other side of Gastonia from you), but last I heard they were closing.

I think Kyle (member here) is close enough to you to check out his stuff... here's a post he made here, with a link to his site: Hardwood, softwood whatever lumber

If you find any other good sources, let me know!!!

Re: Charlotte Lumber Yards

Thanks for the recommendation. I just got in a HUGE BIG LEAF MAPLE BURL that is now slabbed out. The figure is pretty spectacular.

My website is http://www.sawmillnc.com

You might want to enable e-mail or PM's. I haven't been able to contact you via this website. I am sure I can get you through your website, but it would be nice to reply directly to your posts. BTW disregard my WoodNet PM, I realize your have already stopped by. Welcome and I will be contacting you about some of the Big Leaf Maple. Can you ship small amounts? Dave

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Charlotte Lumber Yards

Howdy.. I can ship small amounts, but it might be better to meet me sometime on my way down to Long beach when I go fishing. I go down there every few months and can probably meet some where close off of 74 south of Clayton.

Re: Charlotte Lumber Yards

Kyle,

Any idea when your turning blocks will be available out at your place?

Everyone, Kyle has some really awesome stuff. Just check with him first to see whats available. If you need a slab he will probably have it.

HH&NK did close and auctioned off everything.

Kyle has a great lumber dealing business and uses a kiln.
He's a treecycler.
