Any suggestions as to a good source for buying unmilled lumber and Baltic Birch plywood in the Southwestern part of the state(Cashiers, Highlands, Franklin)? New to the area and need some guidance. Thanks.

Hey Welcome to the site. I would start off by checking the sawyers list - http://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/view.php?pg=sawyers
And then check the retailers/suppliers list for the BB ply..the sawyers don't seem to saw that

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

bonewood is rumored to be moving (may have already moved) to Highlands. PM him as he has been known to move lumber around the South.

not as close as you may want, but in Asheville there is Gennett Lumber down on the river. Great people and very good product with as reasonable a price as I can find.
Check out their web site. Its listed in the links that I think DaveO listed.
Good luck and welcome to the site. I bet you'll find there is a wealth of information and a group that will go out of their way to help in many ways.
Don't forget to go to the who we are area and introduce yourself...

Franklin has "Wood Warehouse". Many different species of lumber, domestic and exotic.

Hi Dirk,

Wood Warehouse 828 369 3913
Just past Hot Spot on Flood Road. Across from a satellite systems, I think. Don't know how their prices compare with others, but they have a pretty good selection. The guy I talked to was not real helpful, sort of a "Whaddya want ..." but I don't guess you can expect so much, ha.

Hope that helps. I think the hours are 7:30 to 5 M-F

David

Dirk,

You may want to find some wood a little closer to Clayton -- Franklin is 330 miles west of you on
