I LOVE bargains. Heck, I buy stuff just because it's on sale, and I might need it. I faithfully clip Harbor Freight coupons. I've even rinsed out disposable acid brushes because "it was only a small glue-up".

But, when it comes to blades, I found that buying cheap is false economy. Generally, you get what you pay for. I have a few blades from Highland Woodworking and a couple from Timberwolf. Both are head and shoulders above the stock Grizzly blade that came with the saw and a cheap Vemont blade I bought for a one-off project.

Best thing is to wait for a generic 10% off sale or something. Or a closeout special.

My $0.02.

(but if you find a good place that has decent blades for cheap - lemme know!!! )

There was a recent group buy on band saw blades on the penturners forum and I believe they used this guy. I think they got a 20% discount on volume. Maybe that would be possible here.

Just checked, the group buy was on Lennox blades purchased here

Bandsaw accessories (tires, guides, etc) I get from Iturra Design. They do not have a website, but if you call their 800 number (which I don't have ) they will send you the neatest catalog with the most info I have ever seen about bandsaws.

For bands, I have ordered my last from Suffolk Machinery, but I have yet to use any of them as I have not changed the blade on my Minimax since I put the original carbide tipped blade I have on it.

Travis, did you get your carbide tipped blade from Iturra? I was under the impression that Iturra carried only 14" supplies. Suffolk Mach. is supposed to have great blades, but lately it seems people have to go through 3-4 to get a good smooth weld.

Suffolk Machinery. Very nice, knowledgable staff. I use a carbide tipped blade for all hardwoods. It will slice through 8/4 white oak as fast as you can push it.

Cheers,
Bernhard

Wow... those prices are great!

Anyone else used their product? How does it compare to Highland's Woodslicer and Suffolk's Timerwolf blades?

I got the carbide through Minimax. It is a lenox blade IIRC, but it has been a joy to use. I have not changed it 2 years.
