Sorry... I've one more question.
As you may know, recently the FESTOOL announced a '(DF 500 Q) Domino Joiner'.
Pls refer to (1)
http://www.bobmarinosbesttools.com/
(2) http://www.bobmarinosbesttools.com/docs/fes_DF500_web-mailer.pdf

In order to comes with the trim stop, cross stop, 1,000 tenons and cutters.
the price is $920. Our member(ofmy online cafe)'s reaction to this price has been very disappointing, the price(total $920) has been continues to be a controversial issue.

Because we expected the price in U.S.A market would be at less $650, and a lot of my friends planned to buy it in U.S.A.

but why $920 ??? Even U.S.A market...
So I'd like to belive that there was some confusion regarding the price.

Could you pls explian why dose is expensive like any other countires ?, Even U.S.A ??

Thank you, Himchage.

Re: (DF 500 Q) Domino Joiner.

Bob's price on the Domino is $660. This is a 110 volt, 60hz model. Will it work in Korea? I believe your normal mains is 220v/60hz so you will need a transformer. He has an option of buying a package with the Domino and stops for $720.

The large Cutters/Tenons package is an extra $200. If you know the size of tenons you will be using you can get just that size instead of buying the whole systainer full ie: 5x30 tenons, 1800ea for $65.

Since price seems to be an issue have you looked at the Beadlock system? It is also a loose tenon joining system but uses your power drill and the tenons can be made with your own wood.

Re: (DF 500 Q) Domino Joiner.

99.99% of my tenons are cut on pieces less than 4' long so my WoodRat handles that job just fine, plus all of it's other functions.

Re: (DF 500 Q) Domino Joiner.

I'm considering getting one when they come out in April. For chairs they could replace the biscuits I use now in the crest and back rails. The price is hight, but it may be worth the money. I hope they have one at the show in Greensboro for folks to play with. I want to see it before I buy it.

Re: (DF 500 Q) Domino Joiner.

Dear Tarhead,
Yes.. We use 220V/60Hz, so we need a transformer,
But A lot of our members used to buy American products to spare expense, anyway I think the price of a domino is far higher than anticipated.. and I belive the full set_price, $920 (DF 500 Q) Domino Joiner may be expenseive in U.S.A. Because U.S.A. market is larger than any other countries..

Thank you for giviging good informations.

Domino in Action:

http://nhwoodworker.com/domino/bitaction.wmv

Hold on to your wallets and get the WG Disease anti-venom! This is seriously cool.

Festool's next product:

A Sliding Compund Miter Saw with excellent dust control, soft start, moves on linear bearings, mounts close to the wall, double laser and if they stay true to form ~1.5-2 times the price of current competitors. Since this is not so different from the pack it should not take long to get UL/CSA approval.

Re: (DF 500 Q) Domino Joiner.

Regarding the Beadlock: I tried it and it works well, but the material fits quite tight-I had to sand down the bead material to make it fit. I ended up buying a mortiser. I was looking at the Domino, in addition to the high price, I don't like having to buy their supplies-why not just use a dowel or a bisquit? I do own their big circular saw and multi-function table-this is a great system and justifies the price (in my oppinion).

Re: (DF 500 Q) Domino Joiner.

The Domino is supposed to make a much stronger joint than a biscuit or dowel.

Still, too rich for my blood until I win the lottery.
